ALUMNAEnews Fall 2017

Thank you to all the alumnae, faculty, staff and students that made our 2nd Alumnae Leadership Weekend a resounding success. With attendees from the class of 1957 through 2014, the weekend delivered on our mission of:

  • engaging with current students ... during a networking luncheon and panel discussion facilitated by the Center for Career Development;

  • interacting with new Wesleyan leaders ... meeting with our new President, new Provost, new Dean of Students and others to learn about their vision of things to come;

  • networking with Wesleyan women ... at lunch, at a mixer, at the bookstore, the atmosphere was alive with the Wesleyan spirit;

  • planning for Wesleyan's future ... open Q&A sessions and breakout discussions that led to ideas and action items that have energized your Alumnae Board of Managers.

If you didn't have the opportunity to attend, I encourage you to watch the keynote address by President Fowler and the Wesleyan History Project details, delivered by Dr. Karen Huber. You can watch the presentations here. Be sure to check out the photo recap of the weekend too!

Getting together with sisters is always fun. Check out some upcoming alumnae events to reconnect throughout the year!

Best, Melanie Filson Lewis '93 President, Alumnae Board of Managers

Leadership Weekend Photo Recap

We had a great turn out for Alumnae Leadership Weekend. Our current students enjoyed the chance to meet with alumnae and we always enjoy sharing ways for alumnae to stay connected and involved with the college.

Fall Preview Day & Nursing Open House!

Sisterhood has its privileges and one privilege is the opportunity to give the gift of a new student. Growing the College and the Wesleyan Sisterhood through the Alumnae Referral Program is an example of alumnae volunteerism at its best.

Women with Purpose Festival - Oct. 21

Join us on Saturday, October 21st, 1:00 - 5:00 for our first annual Women With Purpose outdoor festival, an exciting new way The Lane Center for Service and Leadership is giving back to the community. Profits from Women With Purpose will go to Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia to support their domestic abuse program and sexual assault center.

Oct. is Georgia Archives Month!

We encourage you to check out our digital collections. Over the past year, we have worked to get the College Catalogs, Alumnae Magazines, Student Newspapers, Literary Magazines, and Yearbooks available online. These documents are now on the Internet Archive where you can flip through and keyword search the items. We are still scanning some of the yearbooks and literary magazines, so make sure you check back periodically for updates. If you would like to see any of our collections in person, come by the Archives in Willet Library Monday-Friday 1pm-5pm, or make an appointment.
