 About Wesleyan College

Founded in 1836, Wesleyan was the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women. Every year since then, Wesleyan women have been making history. We take our role as a pioneer in women’s education seriously. Today, we continue to educate women to do the extraordinary in their professions and in service to their communities. At Wesleyan, women are expected to think, to explore, and to dream big. It’s an environment where no student will ever be told that she can’t do something because it’s too hard.

Our beautiful 200-acre wooded campus, along with historically significant buildings, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the Wesleyan College Historic District. Wesleyan is nestled in a northern suburb of Macon, about ninety minutes south of Atlanta. Beautiful, white-columned Georgian-styled buildings surround a classic quadrangle that plays host to many college events. Our 150-year-old trees are a beautiful contrast to our recently renovated residence halls; multi-million-dollar athletic, wellness, and equestrian facilities; and a state-of-the-art science center.
